Adventures in Home Renovation!!!

Sorry my posts have been so infrequent lately. Sadly, I haven't had much time for crafting lately. But there are only 10 days of school left, and then my schedule includes a lot more free time! Plus, I have lots of projects planned, most of which have to do with an upcoming Bachelorette party that I'm throwing for a friend! So stay tuned!

For now I wanted to share some pictures from my recent foray into wallpaper removal! My husband and I just bought our first house (!) and love everything about it...except the wallpaper in the master bedroom and bathroom. Here is what it looked like:

And here is my amazing wallpaper removal crew!

We worked hard and had a great time! And we got it ALL removed! I was so impressed, we worked really hard. But we had a lot of fun!

Now the next project is painting! So much fun!!!

Adventures in Table Renovation!

As Brant and I get ready to move into our new house, we've been trying to re-use as many materials as possible. We got an old dining room table from my parents a while ago, and it was in bad need of refurbishing. The wood was looking old, wasn't our style at all, and had some damage in spots. We stripped the wood and then painted the entire table black. We really love how it turned out!
I was really excited about our little home improvement project, as you can tell...
(You can see the 'before' of the table in the background)

The finished project! Now it's something we would want to actually use in our house! Instead of throwing out this table and spending hundreds on a new one, we were able to renovate it for about $16!!! Now that's what I call a successful craft project!

Crafty Catch-Up...

I am so sorry that I haven't written in so long. School has kept me really busy lately, and so has BUYING A HOUSE! Yep, we have bought our first house!!! We will move in at the end of May, and cannot wait. The house is great, and one of my favorite features---I will have a craft room! That's right, a room of my own that I can dedicate to crafty things, not just a little corner of our living room. I am sooo excited!

But back to craft projects. Remember the gift exchange I mentioned? It was a Secret Easter Bunny thing at the school, where you are assigned another staff member to get fun things for. I got the Home-Ec teacher, so of course I had to make her fun crafty things!

The gift on the left is an apple pincushion that I made. I know that the Home-Ec teacher likes quilts, so I sewed together strips of coordinating fabric and then turned it into an apple! I really like how it turned out, and the teacher loved it. Another gift that I made her was one of my fused plastic bags filled with easter eggs. She really liked the concept of fusing plastic garbage bags and loved the gift!
